Agra… home to the Taj Mahal. Funny story… we didn’t actually see the Taj Mahal… well properly anyway.

We arrived into Agra late morning. Headed to our hotel to drop our bags and then went out for the day with our Tuk-Tuk tour guide Manu. He suggested we see the Taj tomorrow at sunrise when it’s less busy. That sounded good to us we’d had enough crowds in Delhi.

After a look around the Baby Taj, Agra Fort, lunch and bit of shopping it suddenly occurred to our driver that the Taj was in-fact closed on Fridays (today being Thursday…) we quickly drove there to see it in the evening instead. We said bye too Manu and went into the gates. Just as we walked up to the ticket counter they closed the shutters… We missed it by literally two seconds…

To be honest am I that bothered? Not really. It’s just a building… and as a photographer, who wants to see another picture of one of the most photographed buildings in the world?

So we visited Agra and didn’t see the Taj Mahal… well inside it anyway!

Next stop Jaipur.
