Raleigh International Nepal
I was lucky enough to spend three months working as an expedition photographer in Nepal with the sustainable development charity Raleigh International. I lived in three rural communities in the Gorkha region, an area heavily affected by the devastating 2015 earthquake.
My work focused on documenting the work of the youth volunteers and the affect their work was having on the community members. Raleigh International Nepal predominately focuses on water and sanitation projects constructing toilets, hand-washing stations and digging pipeline, as well as delivering awareness and education sessions to the community members.

Pranish Shakya a home country volunteer leads a school session on littering, waste and hygiene.
Day 1 of digging a 6ft x 6ft toilet pit.
Seb and Harry walk along the 2km pipeline they help dig.
Bucket Taps. What seems like a very simple idea can help prevent disease and improve health standards. Here I documented Avisek who works for Goreto Gorkha (one of the project partners) adding the taps to the buckets.
The bucket taps were then distributed out to the community members.

Case Studies
I also worked on case studies with communications officer Rebbie Webb, we interviewed community members, volunteers, home country volunteers and project partners.
The case studies were used on the Raleigh Nepal blog and for Raleigh's marketing material. The content was also sent to BNP Paribas Suisse a private investor who fund the WASH programs and home country volunteers.
We interviewed community member Ambika Kunwar. Her house was badly affected by the earthquake and had very basic facilities for washing and cleaning. You can read more about her story here.
